GAP certification originated in Europe. In 1997, the European retailer production working group (EUREP) put forward the concept of good agricultural practices (EUREPGAP) under the initiative of retailers; In 2001, the EUREP Secretariat published the EUREPGAP standard to the public for the first time; In 2007, EUREPGAP announced to change its name and logo to GLOBALGAP. In 2004, CNCA launched the certification of China good agricultural practice (EUREPGAP) and issued a series of national standards of good agricultural practice in 2005.

GAP certification has been vigorously promoted and implemented by the governments of the European Union, the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Chile and other countries. It is an internationally recognized certification standard for agricultural products. Now more enterprises are joining the ranks. Through gap certification, the standardization level of agricultural production can be improved, and high-quality and safe agricultural and livestock products can be produced, which is conducive to enhancing consumer confidence.
